The 400 is a truly unique engine. Ford wanted a small frame replacement for their big blocks. They based it heavily on the Cleveland design but did it with a massive increase in deck height to fit the huge 4” stroke crankshaft. What they did was create the ultimate stroker engine! Here at Wolverine Engines we commonly order raised deck aftermarket blocks but Ford produced this one from the factory. The torque potential from these engines are unrivaled from any factory small block! Unfortunately, this engine was seriously hampered by emissions and only produced a whopping 158HP in the 1975-78‘ years. Luckily we can fix this and 500 ft lbs of torque is achievable even on a very mild build! From mild to wild we would love to help with your Ford Modified build!
